Last week, Manny was accepted into a clinical trial out of MD Anderson Cancer Center. After waiting for full approval, he was finally given a start date for next week.

He has been in Houston for the past two weeks, and will stay in Houston for the next five weeks for treatment. His parents are with him, and they were fortunate to find an apartment to reside in for the remainder of their stay.

This clinical trial, which is based on a similar concept to that of Dr. Wilky’s trial, has been fairly successful for another ASPS patient. We pray that Manny will find the same success.

An evaluation will be done after two full cycles of treatment. Each cycle spans about a month.

With Thanksgiving near, we’d like to take the opportunity to express our gratitude for all the support Manny and the foundation are constantly receiving. Although he’s bummed about spending the holiday and his 24th birthday in Houston, Manny’s extremely thankful that he’s able to receive treatment.

Wishing a Happy Thanksgiving to our #SpearSarcoma team,

Vic, The Alvarez Family & MAF
